We recently collaborated with Sonia Sharma of Sonia Events and Celio’s Design to create this gorgeous tabletop design at Caroline Trans Propel WorkshopPropel focuses on helping artists build a sustainable business, and establishing their style when they shoot. They cover topics anywhere from marketing & branding to workflow. And of course, they always have a couple of beautifully styled shoots for lots of hands-on practice. Caroline walks you through how she approaches a shoot.

011701aAt the  73rd annual Academy Award Governor’s Ball, held for the last time at the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Edgardo Zamora, CEO of Revelry Event Designers, made his debut as art director.

Our inspiration for the event was the Edwardian Era, King Edward was the son of Queen Victoria. After the heaviness, clutter and dark colours of Victorian interiors, people wanted something elegant, new and cheerful. Edwardian style was a breath of fresh air.

To create this opulent look we installed a hand painted fabric ceiling. The structural truss was slip-covered and a “Revelry Artisan” hand painted the Acanthus Leaf design. The ceiling installation included a full fabric treatment, hand painted truss covers and  (8)  2′ wide by 7′ tall chandeliers that contained a back lit, frosted, interior wall covered in applique’ butterflies, which slowly rotated.

Ornate Mirrors were placed around the existing balcony of the Shrine Auditorium exhibit hall.

Guests were seated at Polygon shaped tables lined with Cafe Vienna Chairs dressed in custom silk covers.

Additionally, we commissioned  an artisan to paint over 2000 sq. feet of the Chinosaires on silk for the event. 11 hand painted fabric columns were placed around the room and are seen in detail behind the bar. The same Butterflies and Hummingbird design was painted on the bar front and illuminated from within.
